MESSAGE FROM ROTARY INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT’S PERSONAL REPRESENTATIVE

Dear Fellow Rotary Members and Friends,

On behalf of RI President Shekhar Mehta and Rashi, Phyllis and I welcome you to 2021-22 District 3450
Conference. The District Conference offers us a wonderful opportunity for all Rotarians, Rotaractors and
friends to come together to learn, share ideas, make plans, and be inspired by the conference program. It is
also a time to celebrate the success of your District’s activities.

Just as we are trying to end the polio endemic in the remaining two countries, the world is robbed of
our freedom 26 months ago by COVID-19 pandemic. Although some countries had declared COVID-19
endemic, border restrictions and social distancing easing, we are still not out of the wood yet. Everyone is
affected and Rotary is not spared either. For the last 2 years plus, we learned to adapt and live with virtual
meetings and trainings. However, in-person activities including service projects were curtailed. I am happy
that you are convening this year’s District Conference in three-dimensional.

Rotary has served the humanity for the last 117 years. For Rotary to be able to continue to make lasting
change to the communities in the next century, we need more people of action, people with caring hearts,
and willing hands. This year Rotary theme is “Serve to change lives”. Presenting the theme, President
Shekhar said that “Service is the rent we pay for the space we occupy on this earth”. His initiatives to Grow
More to Do More and the membership drive of “Each One Bring One” all align with Rotary’s action plan and
goals. It is still work in progress. We must make Rotary attractive and engaging.

I hope you have a wonderful and productive district conference and feel inspired when you leave the
conference.
